RUNNING WITH WOLVES

Moses and Melrose Jacobs were born exactly a minute apart; however, their mother would never tell them which came first.  They had been rivals in the womb and were born with their arms wrapped around each other. It was going to be a contest as to whom would come first till the very end.  As they grew, Moses and Melrose embodied the notion of sibling rivalry.  Sister and brother, always trying to one up the other in every endeavor.  Their conjoined motto ,  " Anything you can do, I can do better  ".  Through school, sports, and leisure the duo were always joyfully at odds.  Light hearted in their prods to goad the other onto greater achievement. 

On the day of high school graduation ; once family celebrations concluded the team of two joined a group of friends on a weekend camping trip just outside of their hometown of Defiance, Ohio. It wasn't far and the group of kids had banned together in an old van dubbed The Mystery Machine.  Mostly because of the vehicle owner and his Shaggy appearance.  That night, between beers and passed around bowls ; Shaggy wandered off into the woods. 

When Shaggy had been for a couple of hours, Moses acted out of growing concern went to find his friend.   On the young man's trek deep into game trails, he happened upon a wolf.  A giant ..wolf.  The animal scared and snarling with its leg caught in a razor trap snare with barbs that were digging deep into the animal's leg.  Moses could not leave the animal  there, hurt and surely the target of a hunter's cross hairs.  The young man, took a chance then that would forever alter the course of his, and in turn ;  Melrose's life.

It happened quickly.  Moses had thrown his Ohio State University hoodie over the head of the animal in an attempt to subdue the creature ; mistaking it for simple wolf ( which was a foolish move in itself ).   Instead, the young man found himself bitten during the rescue effort ; on the arm.   However, he managed to get the wolf loose. In need of first aid Moses then turned back to camp, without Shaggy. Melrose freaked when she saw her brother's bleeding arm and protested when the young man refused to head out for treatment until Shaggy was found.  

By dawn, the group had spread out  ; Melrose and Moses together as they looked for their friend.  In the course of searching, Moses fell ill  ; a gripping sort of flu that had him on the ground and experiencing the worst cramping body aches he had ever felt in his life. Fever and chills, turned to nausea and vomiting that steadily worsened.  Alone on the trails, Melrose was in a panic and about to run back for help when unexpected help found them.

Shaggy. A newly turned wolf himself came limping from the brush ; his ankle badly wounded but already rapidly healing.  He knew what had happened, and knew what was going to then happen to Moses.  At first, after Shaggy told the young woman what was happening. She refused to believe in myths and legends coming alive.  Until the day progressed into night again and she watched her brother transform.  Into a wolf. 

Scared and afraid himself after transformation ; when Melrose rushed to Moses in his altered state; unbelieving that even as a wolf he could ever truly hurt her.  The wolf , reacted in animalistic manner ;  thus biting Melissa as well.  Hours later, Melrose fell victim to the illness that had transformed her brother hours before.  Gaining all of the strengths while going through the pain, just unable to complete the shift from woman to she-wolf.

Guilt riddled Shaggy, had he been in better control  ; none of this would have happened. 

By the next morning, when  the three emerged from the woods to find search teams, exploring the area and jubilant that the missing teens were found.  As luck would have it, one of the emergency responders took notice of the teens and the scent they carried with them.  Eventually diverting first response care to his rig, where he radioed in to the local Alpha.  Handling the situation of three new werewolves.

The three teens were welcomed by the local pack. where Moses and Melrose learned to embrace a new life as werewolves, adjusting to each other and their newest point of rivalry.  Moses could shift into a wolf, while Melrose could only sense her own in dreamscape.  Eventually their path led the twins to Denver, Colorado.

In Denver, the duo caught up with the Road Wolves pack ;  Moses working his way through probation as a prospect in the motorcycle club and then patching in as a  brother.  The siblings also learned how to move on with life , they were young and talented.  Brother and sister, gifted in the arts ; which turned into a shared love of body art and modification. The two, apprenticed together as tattoo artists , went to college together to hone their visual art skills, and eventually opened up their own shop --  keeping it all inside,   " The Family Business."
