Born to two wild teenagers, it was Elena Blackwater’s father had a followed a long tradition in his family by joining the werewolf society around when he hit puberty - but he didn’t consider it to be a curse. He used his abilities to the fullest, and being a reckless fourteen year old, secrets were hard to keep. Blabbing about his abilities to his crush, Elle’s mother in fact, the young girl initially didn’t believe him. It had to have been some sort of a game or a joke, but when being offered proof, how could she deny her own eyes? Taken by the sight, she immediately convinced the boy to turn her into one, too! It was exactly the sort of reaction he was hoping for, so when the next full moon came around, their plan was set into motion. He would be tied up and she would only get close enough for one bite - a risky maneuver, but the young girl passed with flying colors. With both of the young teenagers adjusting to life as a werewolf, it’s easy to say that the pair became more reckless as time went on. Growing into wolves who only used their abilities to become more destructive and ‘fun’, when the couple wound up pregnant at ages sixteen and seventeen, they just simply did not have time for a child.
As a result, Elena Blackwater was basically handed off the her grandparents the second she was born. Taken in by her maternal grandparents, a lovely couple who had no idea that anything supernatural existed, it wasn’t as if they could have given a warning to their grandchild. Elena’s parents certainly didn’t think about the option either, as they were mostly off partying, or wrecking havoc anywhere they went. But they weren’t complete deadbeats! They were good parents, often checking in on their daughter every once in a while to play… until they bored of the child again.
It didn’t necessarily bother Elle, either, as she had enough of a support system as she needed. Her grandparents were loving and nothing if not caring and protective. Her parents were more like friends who came and went, and she began to become accustomed to calling them Drew and Tara instead of mom and dad. Nothing about the situation was odd, in her mind. Not much was, actually. In fact, the only thing that may have struck the growing girl as odd, was when she was twelve years old. Left alone for the first time as her grandparents went out for a night just the two of them, Elle, however, was petrified. It was just once, though, and she was so young…She did what everychild of that age would. Explore...Find out what actuactlly was happening in the woods near the old farm house during those nights..It was then she caught her grandmother fall "sick" and her grandfather turn into the most beautiful creature she had ever seen,, what was she going to do about it? It was over, until it wasn’t. The next full moon, the same reaction, month after month.
Her parents finally caught on after four more transitions that managed to fly past her grandparents only by sheer coincidence that she knew, and they had to sit their thirteen year old down to confront her with the truth. She was a werewolf - one of those gross creatures that she’d seen in some horror flicks. As her grandparents never had full guardianship of their granddaughter, regardless of raising her, Elle’s parents packed up all of her things one night - deciding that now they would finally be her parents. The young wolf only agreed because of her parents insistence that she could hurt someone, and that was the last thing that she wanted.
So with her parents finally raising her, Elle still only referred to them as her friends when asked. This grew especially apparent by the time she was seventeen, and aching to flee from her chaotic caregivers. Their strange living habits had their daughter only retreat into herself for a reminder of a normal life. Her thoughts were more comforting than the mobile home they’d all squeeze into together, sometimes moving around, sometimes not. Every day had no appearance of normalcy or patterns - always unpredictable and unreliable. The days Elle had to emerge from her thoughts and fantasies were always the days she hated, and eventually that had her abandoning her parents. To where, she didn’t and doesn’t know, but she’s been on the road ever since.
